Bhaktapur, Madhyapur Thimi.
Navin Pyathal, an artist from Madhyapur Thimi-6, who has been active in sculpture for the past 25 years, has handed over a statue of Lord Buddha in the meditation posture to the Nagdesh Buddha Vihara as a gift.
The statue, made of fiber glass, is about seven and a half feet tall and one meter wide. The artist Pyathal informed that the cost of construction of this statue, which was prepared after about two months of continuous effort, is about three lakh rupees.
According to Krishna Bahadur Prajapati, chairman of Nagdesh Buddha Vihara and Madhyapur Thimi-7, the statue of Lord Buddha in the meditation posture was only in Okubahal, Lalitpur, so far. With the artist Navin Pyathal handing over this statue to the Nagdesh Buddha Vihara, the statue to be established here will become the second meditation Buddha statue in Nepal.
The local community has considered the contribution of artist Pyathal as a significant achievement in the preservation and promotion of Buddhist art, culture, and religious heritage.
