Kathmandu, Ashwin 9. On the occasion of Indra Jatra (Yen Ya), the tradition of 58 households from Kathmandu’s Mali (Gathu) community offering ritual materials for the daily worship of the Living Goddess Kumari Bhawani has been resumed.
According to tradition, the Mali community has long practiced offering specific ritual items—such as *Pankha Phul* (ceremonial flowers), *Sachika Swa*, *Samye Jwalan*, fruits, and sweets—during the daily worship of Kumari Bhawani on the day of Indra Jatra.
This tradition, which had lapsed for several decades, was revived starting in the year 2081 BS through the initiative of Suraj Malakar, the *Naya* (head) of Maru Satah Ha Guthi.
Continuing this initiative, a formal ritual worship of Kumari Bhawani was conducted at 9:00 AM on Friday, Ashwin 9, 2083 BS. The event saw significant participation from the Nepal Mali Samaj as well as various *Guthis* (traditional socio-religious associations) of the Mali community, both large and small.
The Mali community stated that they are continuing this ritual with the aim of preserving and perpetuating their indigenous traditions, culture, and religious practices by passing them on to future generations.
The organizers have expressed their gratitude to all the *Guthis*, organizations, and community members who participated in preserving and continuing this tradition.
