Ashwin 6, Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced the likelihood of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various parts of the country from Friday, Ashwin 9, to Sunday, Ashwin 11. According to the special monsoon weather bulletin issued on Monday evening, this change in weather conditions could disrupt daily life.
The Department's Meteorological Forecasting Division reported that a low-pressure area, which had developed over the North Andaman Sea and surrounding regions, has moved to the central Bay of Bengal and intensified into a "deep depression" (a strong low-pressure system).
As this system is projected to move in a west-northwest direction, rainfall activity is expected to increase starting Wednesday in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
According to the Division, heavy to very heavy rainfall—accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds—is expected in some areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces between Ashwin 9 and 11, with a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in one or two locations.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in a few places across Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while heavy rainfall is expected in a few locations within Karnali Province.
