Today is Language Day, a public holiday in Bagmati Province

Kathmandu– The Bagmati Province government is celebrating the third Province Language Day today by organizing various programs.

The Bagmati Province government started celebrating the Province Language Day from the year 2081 on the day of Baisakh 24. According to the Province Language Act, 2080, the province government has been celebrating the Province Language Day since 2081. The said Act, 2080, was published in the Province Gazette on Kartik 23, 2080. As per Clause (1) Sub-clause (3) of the Act, it was arranged to be implemented from 180 days after its publication in the Province Gazette. Accordingly, when 180 days of the implementation of the Act were completed on Baisakh 24, 2081, the first Province Language Day was celebrated, informed Deependra Suvedi, Secretary at the Bagmati Province, Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Accordingly, this year's third Province Language Day is being celebrated. On this occasion, a rally will be held today from Doodhpati in Bhaktapur to Bhaktapur Durbar Square-Dattatreya-Kamal Vinayak and then to Lancha Falcha Bhutkayapati, said Pawan Kumar Pokhrel, Chief of the Tourism Office, Kathmandu. He also informed that a special program will be organized at Lancha Falcha Bhutkayapati after the rally as part of the main ceremony. On this occasion, the Bagmati Province government has also given a public holiday throughout the province today.
