Congress's 15th General Convention: Leaders Advise Prioritizing Work for the People Over Holding Power

Kathmandu, Ashwin 18. General Secretary of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Aren Rai, stated that the Nepali Congress was established through a long history of political struggle, sacrifice, and martyrdom, rather than merely on the basis of hearsay or hype.

Delivering a message of best wishes at the inaugural session of the Nepali Congress's 15th National General Convention, General Secretary Rai recalled the party's pivotal role in establishing the federal democratic governance system in Nepal.

"We have studied and observed the history of the Congress extensively. In reality, this is not a party established on mere hype," he said. He noted that throughout the party's history, numerous leaders and cadres have contributed to nation-building by setting aside their personal aspirations and dreams. General Secretary Rai expressed the view that, in the days ahead, the Congress should prioritize working effectively for the people rather than focusing on the duration of its time in power.

Similarly, Resham Lal Chaudhary, founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, highlighted the Congress's leadership role in ending the Rana regime and the Panchayat system, as well as in drafting the current constitution.

Stating that the Congress needs to move forward in a more empowered and responsible manner in light of the country's changing political landscape, Chaudhary extended his best wishes for the success of the 15th General Convention. Ghanshyam Neupane, Acting General Secretary of the Rastriya Janamorcha, expressed happiness that the 15th General Convention was being held at a historic venue and voiced his confidence that the convention would succeed in charting the course for the country's future. He stated that the general convention, being held amidst the country's unique political situation and developments, would contribute not only to the internal life of the Congress party but also to further strengthening the nation's democratic system.
