Kathmandu – The Deuba-led faction of the Nepali Congress is holding ward conventions today as part of its own 15th General Convention process.
While the party's establishment faction is preparing for the 15th General Convention scheduled to begin on Asoj 18, the Deuba faction—representing the rival group within the party—has initiated a parallel convention process, starting with ward conventions today.
The Deuba faction has scheduled its 15th General Convention for Mangsir 21–23. Accordingly, it has finalized a schedule—including municipal-level conventions on Asoj 20, provincial assembly constituency conventions on Asoj 23, and provincial conventions on Mangsir 4—and has already informed the Election Commission of this plan.
Party leader Kiran Raj Paudel stated that the faction has already dispatched election officers to all 77 districts on behalf of its central election committee.
The Deuba faction had previously argued that the General Convention should not be held while the dispute regarding the party's official legitimacy remains sub judice at the Supreme Court. However, since the establishment faction had already commenced its convention process on Asoj 3, the rival faction has also begun preparations by setting its own convention schedule.
The Deuba faction announced that it has deployed election coordinators to 56 districts for the ward conventions starting today.

Stating the need to make the organization strong, disciplined, and people-oriented right from the ward level, Shashank Koirala has appealed to all Nepali Congress leaders, cadres, and active members to participate in the ward conventions with high morale, enthusiasm, and active engagement.
Claiming that the working committee elected through the 14th General Convention is the only legitimate one, the Deuba-aligned faction has not participated in the general convention process initiated by the establishment faction.
