Baishakh 20. President Ram Chandra Poudel has wished the Nepali media world to be fearlessly active in fully exercising and protecting the rights granted by the constitution and always succeed in disseminating true information to the general public.
He said that independent journalism should pay special attention to establishing correct and truthful things in society by investigating the truth and disseminating facts. He made such a wish while wishing people on World Press Freedom Day. Every year, May 3 is celebrated as Press Freedom Day around the world. “Our constitution has guaranteed complete freedom of the press and expression. The voices of all classes and communities should be voiced by freely and unhinderedly participating in the process of disseminating news, from information collection to dissemination,” the message states.
Meanwhile, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has expressed his best wishes to all media personnel, Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.
In his congratulatory message, Vice President Yadav stated that the freedom of the press guaranteed by the Constitution is not only the right of journalists or media workers but also the common right of all citizens to know the truth, express their views and make prudent decisions. He said that in recent times, the flow of information has not been limited to print and broadcast media, but has intensified through social media. He said that the impact of algorithms has also added to the challenge of true news being overshadowed and misleading content coming to the fore.
