Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle departed for India today for a three-day official visit. He left for New Delhi on a 7:35 AM flight at the invitation of the Government of India.
According to the Finance Minister's secretariat, the visit will involve discussions on various aspects of economic, political, and diplomatic relations between Nepal and India, as well as cooperation regarding post-disaster reconstruction.
Finance Minister Wagle is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 5:00 PM today. On Friday morning, he will participate as the chief guest in a high-level diplomatic dialogue organized by India's former Foreign Secretary, Shyam Saran.
Similarly, he is scheduled to meet with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Friday evening. That same evening, Finance Minister Wagle will also attend a major gathering organized by Javed Ashraf, Chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation.
On Saturday morning, he is scheduled to participate as a keynote speaker at a conference with industrial houses organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry. Subsequently, at 11:30 AM, he will attend an academic discussion at the Delhi School of Economics as the chief guest.
Finance Minister Wagle is scheduled to return home on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
The delegation accompanying him includes Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Amrit Lamsal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gehendra Rajbhandari, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi Dr. Surendra Thapa, Economic Minister Taranath Adhikari, and the Finance Minister's Private Deputy Secretary Kanchan Basnet.
