Navalpur: Khimanarayan Parajuli has been elected as the president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The fourth annual general meeting and second national conference of the Chamber unanimously elected him as the president.
The conference held at Narayani Resort in Gaidakot, Navalpur on Sunday formed a new 99-member central working committee under Parajuli's leadership.
The new working committee includes outgoing president Khim Lal Bhandari and senior vice-president Yagya Prasad Pant. Similarly, Damodar Nepal has been chosen as the industry vice-president, Lokjang Lama as the commerce vice-president, Shivraj Duwadi as the commodity vice-president, and Dipendra Vishwakarma as the associate vice-president.
Upendra Chaudhary, Ramsundar Bake, Prakash Pandey, and Janak Raj Parajuli have been elected as open vice-presidents, while Kalpana Sharma has been elected as the women's vice-president.
Surya Thapa has been chosen as the general secretary, Aashish Karki as the treasurer, and Kumar Thapa as the deputy general secretary. Chet Bahadur Khadka, Minraj Bhandari, Prem Sunar, Tapendra Prasad Joshi, and Kedarnath Adhikari are the secretaries, while Netra Prasad Acharya has been chosen as the deputy treasurer.
The new leadership is expected to play a significant role in solving the problems of the industry and trade sector, empowering the private sector, and expanding economic activities.
In the same vein, newly elected president Parajuli expressed gratitude to the representatives and stated that he takes his responsibility not just as a position, but as a trust, expectation, and responsibility. He expressed his commitment to proving the trust placed in him through result-oriented work.
He referred to the private sector as the backbone of the country's economy and stated that he will raise a strong voice for its rights, security, and dignity. Additionally, he mentioned that he will work in cooperation with the government to make tax, finance, labor, and trade-related policies simple, transparent, and business-friendly.
